This band’s music cultivates musical forms that take us back to the powerful energy of the American swing of the 20s and 30s of the last century. The legendary Boswell Sisters are their most evident reference; singers in the mid-20s whose voices shook the souls and bodies of anyone who saw the vaudeville shows that made their songs famous.
A creation by Sevillian singer Paula Padilla, the O Sister! project features another five artists, two of whom, Helena and Marcos, are also singers, while the others are musicians in the rhythmic section. Their intention, clearly modernizing, has been made clear in different albums such as “Crazy People”, from 2009; “Shout Sister!”, from 2012; the “Spooky Sessions” EP from 2014, and a fourth album, “Stompin’ in Joy”, from 2016.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band’s creation, they are immersed in a tour called “10 Crazy Years” which brings them back to this festival. Once again, as on many previous occasions and to some people’s surprise, some of the most stimulating and fresh things that happen in JAZZMADRID may well be witnessed in the vocal harmonies that we can enjoy in this concert.
