YELLOWJACKETS

18 November, 2018 // 21:00 Sala Clamores €20 – €25

TICKETS. SOLD OUT
25€ / advance: 20€.

In the history of fusion jazz, the name of this band stands head and shoulders above its closest relatives, Spyro Gira. Born in a blaze of glory in 1977 at the behest of guitarist Robben Ford, who would then go on to play with Miles Davis and Sadao Watanabe before heading up Blue Line, the Yellowjackets were really popular in their time. The general public first heard about them when they published their first album, an initiatory work that featured the expertise of Russel Ferrante and bassist Jimmy Haslip, both of whom had been long-time session musicians for Lee Ritenour, Michael Paulo, or even Andy Summer, who played guitar in Police.

After that initial big bang, Yellowjackets followed their own path with all the ups and downs of a band with a long history behind it. Some of the original members of the band have come and gone, they have recorded more than two dozen albums, and when drummer William Kennedy left the band, they returned to their trio line-up for a while. The audience really likes their music – and leaving aside the surprise of those years when saxophonist Bob Mintzer stepped in for Marc Russo – every time they visit Madrid they are sure of a warm welcome.
